Celebration Service

Last night we celebrated Liverpool YMCA supporting the City of Liverpool, it was a wonderful service filled with singing, testimonies and stories from Liverpool YMCA.

 

The service started with the Revd Michelle Montrose, Liverpool Parish Church giving a welcome  and an opening prayer, the servicing them moved onto hymns and speeches. Ellie McNeil CEO YMCA Liverpool spoke about the previous 170 years of LYMCA and the various ways the organisation has serviced the City of Liverpool. a poem was read out which had been written by service users about a member of LYMCA staff who has worked with us for many years.

The service continued with a performance from staff and service users of a specially adapted acoustic version of the song YMCA, including a verse written by Julian Riley expressing the legacy of Liverpool YMCA. We also had speeches from the Revd Cannon Neville Black and YMCA Chaplin Kieran Bohan, reflecting on the role Liverpool YMCA has played in the City and how working with Liverpool YMCA had affected them personally.

Majic Kurdzil bravely spoke about his personal story as a YMCA resident, which really impacted on the congregation and gain him a huge round of applause as he thanks LYMCA for helping in get his life back.

The service was brought to a close with the choir singing, With a Little Help from My Friends and a short blessing.
