Research Report – Working With People Around Substitute Prescribing

Published

YMCA Liverpool & Sefton are delighted to share a summary report following some research into our partnership with Merseycare around substitute prescribing for opiate users. The report examines The Role of Hostels in Supporting Residents Adherence to Opiate Substitution Treatment and highlights the powerful and positive partnership working that takes place in Liverpool services. This report looks at the partnership of our service, Mildmay House and Merseycare. It was a privilege for YMCA to be involved in this study as it represents the first qualitative research in the UK to focus specifically on the role of the hostel support provider.

Ellie McNeil, CEO of YMCA Liverpool & Sefton says

“This report highlights the positive approaches that we are taking in the city, it provides us with a strong evidence base to continue the work we are doing”

A full copy of the report is available below – it is a very positive read. We are passionate about “in reach” working at YMCA Liverpool & Sefton and removing as many barriers as possible to help and treatment for the people we support. The benefits of in reach working are summarised in this quote:

“The main benefit is that it keeps people in treatment”
