Liverpool’s Third Sector Faces a £5.4 Million Funding Crisis
The Well Placed Group, representing Liverpool’s third-sector health and social care leaders, has issued a stark warning about the financial sustainability of community organisations in the face of rising costs.
From April 2025, the sector will face a minimum £5.4 million shortfall, putting essential services at risk.
With National Insurance increases, real living wage adjustments, and an already unsustainable funding model, 89% of organisations anticipate staff cuts, while 67% may be forced to reduce or close services.
The impact on Liverpool’s most vulnerable residents could be devastating.
In an open letter to Liverpool City Council, the Well Placed Group calls for urgent action, including transitional funding, long-term financial planning, and advocacy to central government to protect the future of Liverpool’s vital third-sector services.
